Introduction

Johnson & Wales University/Providence Campus, founded in 1914, is the largest of the J&W campuses and offers more than 50 majors in business, hospitality, culinary arts, technology, and graduate programs. There are 4 undergraduate schools. The 2 libraries contain 94,969 volumes, 439,822 microform items, and 3405 audio/video tapes/CDs/DVDs, and subscribe to 2242 periodicals including electronic. Computerized library services include interlibrary loans, database searching, Internet access, and laptop Internet portals. Special learning facilities include a learning resource center and J&W practicum facilities, the Radisson Airport Hotel and the J&W Inn, are owned and operated by the university and provide students with practical traning serving the public. The Culinary Archives Museum is a resource for culinary research. The 166-acre campus is in an urban area in Providence, 45 minutes from Boston, Cape Cod, and Newport and 3 hours from New York. Including any residence halls, there are 38 buildings.
