Introduction
Calvin College, established in 1876, is a private institution affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in liberal arts and in some professional programs. In addition to regional accreditation, Calvin has baccalaureate program accreditation with ABET, ACCE, CSWE, NASM, NCATE, and NLN. The library contains 479,600 volumes, 790,800 microform items, and 2853 audio/video tapes/CDs/DVDs, and subscribes to 15,000 periodicals including electronic. Computerized library services include the card catalog, interlibrary loans, database searching, and Internet access. Special learning facilities include a learning resource center, art gallery, and TV Studio, ecosystem preserve and interpretive center, electron microscope lav, an observatory with a 16-inch telescope, a greenhouse, and an audiology and speech pathology clinic. The 390-acre campus is in a suburban area 7 miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids. Including any residence halls, there are 40 buildings.
