Introduction

Alice Lloyd College, founded in 1923, is a private liberal arts facility emphasizing Christian values and serving the Appalachian community. Within a 108-county area, which includes most of eastern Kentucky and parts of Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia, annual fees are approximately $1,190, plus room and board; outside of this 108-county area, tution and fees are approximately $7,500, plus room and board. Students within this service area receive the Appalachian Leaders College Scholarship, which covers the full cost of tuition. In addition to regional accreditation, ALC has baccalaureate program accreditation with NCATE. The library contains 62,000 volumes, 1500 microform items, and 300 audio/video tapes/CDs/DVDs, and subscribes to 300 periodicals including electronic. Computerized library services include the card catalog, interlibrary loans, database searching, and Internet access. Special learning facilities include a learning resource center, art gallery, radio station, TV station and a performing arts center. The 225-acre campus is in a rural area in the eastern part of the state. Including any residence halls, there are 38 buildings.
