Introduction

Alfred University, founded in 1836, is composed of the privately endowed College of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and New York State College of Ceramics (School of Engineering and School of Art and Design). The above tuition figures are for incoming freshmen at the College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. There are 4 undergraduate schools and 1 graduate school. In addition to regional accreditation, AU has baccalaureate program accreditation with AACSB, ABET, and NASAD. The 2 libraries contain 323,944 volumes and 94,298 microform items, and subscribe to 6467 periodicals including electronic. Special learning facilities include a learning resource center, art gallery, radio station, TV station, and observatory. The 232-acre campus is in a rural area 70 miles south of Rochester.
