The SAT or ACT is required. In addition, applicants must graduate from an accredited secondary school or earn a GED. Completion of 15 Carnegie credits is required. A strong background in English, math, and the lab and social sciences is recommended. Albion requires applicants to be in the upper 50% of their class. A GPA of 2.5 is required. AP and CLEP credits are accepted. Important factors in the admissions decision are advanced placement or honor courses, extracurricular activities record, and personality/intangible qualities.
Admissions Procedure
Freshmen are admitted fall and spring. Entrance exams should be taken in April or June of the junior year. There are early decision, early admissions, and deferred admissions plans. Check with the school for the current deadlines for early decision applications. Deadlines are open for regular applications. The fall 2005 application fee was $20. Notification of regular decision is sent on a rolling basis. Applications are accepted on-line.
Transfer Students
Transfer applicants must submit official college transcripts. Grades of 2.0 or better are considered for transfer credit. Albion evaluates the applicant's course work before conferring transfer credit. 12 of 124 credits required for the bachelor's degree must be completed at Albion.
Visiting
There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students, consisting of 5 SOAR programs for students and parents: 1 1/2-day events held from early May to late August. There are guides for informal visits and visitors may sit in on classes and stay overnight. To schedule a visit, contact the Admissions Office.
