Admissions

The SAT scores for the 2005-2006 freshman class were: Verbal--11% below 500, 57% between 500 and 599, 28% between 600 and 700, and 4% above 700; Math--5% below 500, 44% between 500 and 599, 44% between 600 and 700, and 7% above 700. 10 freshmen graduated first in their class.

Admissions Requirements

The SAT or ACT is required. In addition, applicants must be graduates of an accredited high school with at least 17 credits, including 4 each of English and math through precalculus and 3 of science, including chemistry. The GED is accepted. Albany College of Pharmacy requires applicants to be in the upper 50% of their class. A GPA of 3.0 is required. AP and CLEP credits are accepted. Important factors in the admissions decision are advanced placement or honor courses, extracurricular activities record, and recommendations by alumni.

Admissions Procedure

Freshmen are admitted in the fall. Entrance exams should be taken in the junior year. There is an early decision plan. Early decision applications should be filed by November 1; regular applications, by February 1 for fall entry. Notification of early decision is sent December 15; regular decision, March 1. 100 applicants were on the 2005 waiting list; 39 were admitted. Applications are accepted on-line.

Transfer Students

Applicants must have a GPA of 3.2.

Visiting

There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students, including a tour of the school and residence halls and a discussion of admissions requirements, financial aid, and student activities.
