George is in a rage and looking for a fight. He is there to protest the intended marriage of Ann and Chris. He announces that Keller is to blame for their family's problems.

George has discovered the truth that his own father is innocent, after finally visiting him in prison. He is there not only to protest Ann getting married to Chris, but to take her back with him. He tells Ann and Chris the truth that Joe Keller (Chris's dad) avoided the situation, was really responsible for the crime, and should be the one in prison.
