In Act III, why does Chris read Larry's letter to his father?

Chris is tired of Joe's refusal to accept responsibility in the soldier's deaths, as well as his part in his own son's death. He wants everyone to witness the proof of Joe's guilt, and force his father to acknowledge his role.
