Ai (pronounced “i”) was born with the name Florence Anthony; she has also used the names Pelorhanke Ai Ogawa and Florence Haynes. She describes her ancestry as being one-half Japanese, one-fourth black, one-eighth Choctaw, and one-sixteenth Irish.
