About the Author: David Ho (1952–) was born in Taichung, Taiwan. At the age of twelve, David's family moved to Los Angeles, California. Ho earned a bachelor's degree in physics from the California Institute of Technology and attended medical school at Harvard University. He began studying the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) at Massachusetts General Hospital and the UCLA School of Medicine. Ho was named Time's 1996 Man of the Year. In 2003, Ho continued his work at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center.
