About the Author: Fred McFeely Rogers (1928–2002) grew up in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and completed his bachelor's degree in music composition at Rollins College. While working at the NBC network in the early 1950s, Rogers was inspired to create a children's television show, which he produced at Pittsburgh's WQED public television station from 1953 to 1962.
