About the Author: Charles Murray (1943–) was born in Newton, Iowa. After graduating from Harvard University in 1965, Murray joined the Peace Corps, serving in Thailand for five years. In 1974, he earned a Ph.D. in political science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has become one of the United States' most prominent social scientists, libertarians, and influential conservative thinkers.
