About the Architect: Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959) was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin. After studying engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Wright moved to Illinois in 1893 and worked for architect Louis Sullivan. Wright opened his own practice in Chicago in 1893 and went on to became one of the most celebrated architects of the twentieth century. He is especially known for his theory of "organic architecture," which emphasizes a harmonious integration between a structure and its site. He was also a proponent of the Prairie School of architecture, which produced low, horizontal buildings...
