About the Organization: The Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) was started in 1993 by a group of architects. The organization brings architects together with planners, economists, real estate developers, government officials, citizen activists, and others who share a concern about the effects of urban and suburban sprawl on people and the environment. They promote the creation of a built environment that best serves its occupants while preserving the health of the natural world.
