Winston meets Julia who also wants change.
Winston and Julia have an affair although they know they will be caught eventually.
Winston and Julia are caught.
Winston goes through re-education with O'Brien.
The climax? When Winston gives up and betrays Julia. All else is downward spiral like with the three conspirators Winston watches hang out at his favorite bar earlier in the novel.
