About the Authors: Gerald Eskanazi (1936–) was born in Brooklyn, New York. Eskanazi joined The New York Times in 1959, and he was a sports reporter for the paper until his retirement in 2000. He has written over eight thousand stories that appeared in The New York Times, as well as thirteen books and hundreds of articles. Dave Anderson (1929–) was born in Troy, New York. After graduating from Holy Cross, Anderson wrote for several newspapers prior to joining The New York Times in 1966 as a reporter. He became a columnist in 1971, and as of 2003 he...
