Introduction
In 1975 television producer Lorne Michaels assembled a cast of performers with experience in improvisational comedy, known as the "Not Ready For Prime Time Players," and a group of writers, many from the satirical magazine National Lampoon. Together they created a new program that would become a legend in American television, Saturday Night Live.
