About the Architect: John Graham (1908–1991) was born in Seattle, Washington, the son of the well-known architect John Graham, Sr. Graham Jr. is best known for designing the Seattle Space Needle. After graduating from Yale with a degree in fine arts, Graham worked briefly in merchandising before going on to the field of architecture in New York City. In 1946, when his father retired as the head of the family architecture firm, Graham returned to Seattle, where he stepped into his father's position. Combining his business experience with his architectural skills, Graham became a tremendous force in shaping Seattle's commercial environment.
