About the Designer: Mary Quant (1934–) was born in Kent, England. In 1955, she opened Bazaar, a boutique in the Chelsea section of London, where she sold clothing designed for the youth market. In order to keep her store supplied with clothes that suited her strong sense of style, Quant began designing her own. Quant's clothes were bold and provocative and always sported her trademark, a five-petaled daisy. As a designer, Quant was among the creators of the London-based "mod" look of the 1960s. While her most memorable product is probably the miniskirt (which she may not have invented, but certainly popularized), she was also renowned for revealing crocheted tops, hot pants, vinyl...
