About the Organization: The Associated Press (AP) was formed in 1848 in New York when ten men representing six newspaper publishers decided to pool their efforts and share the expenses of gathering international news. As years passed, the newspapers in the collective developed their technology together. Because of the pooled resources of the AP, the international community gets more news, in a timely manner, about major events occurring globally.
