About the Author: American evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson (1890–1944), a popular preacher in the 1920s and 1930s, was a nonbeliever until the age of 17 when she met a Scottish evangelist, Robert Semple, who helped to convert her. They married in 1908 and he died shortly after. In 1913 she married Harold S. McPherson.
