About the Author: Edward G. Budd, Jr. (1902–), was born in Philadelphia on March 23, 1902. Upon his graduation from Wesleyan University in 1923, he began work as an apprenticed operation worker for the Edward G. Budd Company, founded by his father, Edward Budd, Sr. He worked for Citroën, in Paris from 1925 to 1926, then returned to his father's employ in 1927. He was named vice-president and general manager of the Budd Company in 1934; executive vicepresident in 1946; and president, upon his father's death, the same year. The American Society of...
