About the Publication: The Literary Digest began publishing in 1890 and in the first quarter of the twentieth century was one of the most popular magazines in the United States. Its modern-day counterparts are Time or Newsweek magazines.
The modern Olympics began in 1896 in Athens, Greece, largely through the efforts of Baron Pierre de Coubertin of France. The Olympics of ancient Greece were primarily track and field events, so these were the featured events in the reconstituted Olympics.
