American League Dominance.

American League teams captured eight often World Series titles from 1910 to 1919. Leading the American League in its World Series romp over the National League were the Philadelphia. Athletics in 1910, 1911, and 1913; the Boston Red Sox in 1912, 1915, 1916, and 1918; and the Chicago White Sox in 1917. The National League's 1914 Boston Braves "Miracle Team," rising from the cellar in mid July to win the pennant and sweep the Athletics in the series, and the 1919 Cincinnati Reds prevented an American League sweep. Although the New York Giants did not win the series in the decade, they were undoubtedly the National League's strongest, most consistent team, winning the pennant four times, from 1911 to 1913 and in 1917. The other National League champions who lost the series were the Chicago Cubs (1910 and 1918), the Philadelphia Phillies (1915), and the Brooklyn Dodgers (1916).
