About the Author: Margaret Sanger (1883–1966), born Margaret Higgins, was the sixth of eleven children born to Irish Catholic parents in Corning, New York. She attended Claverack College and Hudson River Institute before entering the White Plains Hospital nursing program. She married architect William Sanger, with whom she had three children.
