About the Authors: William H. Moody (1853–1917) graduated from Harvard and went into the practice of law, gaining fame for his unsuccessful prosecution of Lizzie Borden. He served first as secretary of the navy and then as attorney general under President Theodore Roosevelt, who nominated him for the U.S. Supreme Court in 1906.
