About the Author: Charles Moore (1855–1942), journalist and city planner, was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He attended the Kenmore School in Pennsylvania, Phillips Andover Academy, and Harvard College, studying history, political science, and philosophy. In school he edited the student newspaper, and after graduating he worked for various Detroit-area newspapers, purchasing several. In 1888, he became involved in city planning as Senator James McMillan's political secretary. From 1912 to 1919, he was president of the Detroit City Plan...
